Ancascocha Trek & Inca Trail To Machu Picchu 7 Day

Another spectacular combination of routes that only our company offers nature lovers the great Inca Trail + Ancascocha.

The ancascocha route keeps in its interior spectacular views of the high Andean mountains, with rivers, lagoons, snow-capped mountains, ravines, waterfalls, and passing through small towns where the Inca culture and language, Quechua, are preserved. On the way of this route we will pass the highest point of the Huayanay pass (4,650 m/ 15,252 ft), and a super view of the snow-capped Salkantay 20,551 ft (6,266 m) Apu Salkantay.
On the 4th day of the trek we will connect with the classic and popular Inca Trail, which keeps in its interior a variety of archaeological complexes that our ancestors the Incas used and the most important and special city after the city of Cusco was Machupicchu.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco – Soqma – Rayan

The pick up from your hotel will be at 6:00 am towards the town of Soqma (3,205 m / 10,512 feet), it is in this small town where our great adventure begins, in Soqma we will meet our team that will support us during the rest of the journey. the adventure, after organizing ourselves, our trek begins, the first part of the trek will be a slight uphill for 2 hours until we reach perolniyoc, a fantastic place, a small Inca citadel on an incredible waterfall and with spectacular views of the sacred valley, after From this fantastic view, we will walk uphill for about 1 hour, until we reach Rayampata (3,700 meters / 9,350 feet), where we will have lunch and camp.

Day 2Rayan – Chancachuco – Ancashcocha

A hot coffee or a coca tea in the morning to activate our energy and enjoy our first sunrise over the mountains, we have breakfast and start the walk on an original Inca trail until we reach the Kuychicassa pass (4,450 m / 14,596 ft) a spectacular view of the mountains of the sacred valley, a path above the clouds and if we are lucky we will be able to appreciate the flight of the king of the skies, the Andean condor, during the trek, the views will be fantastic until we reach the small town of Ancascocha (3,700 m/12,136 ft which will be our second camp.

Day 3Ancascocha – Huayanay pass – Muyu Muyu community – Paucarcancha

After our breakfast an incredible day awaits us because today we will pass near the snowy Huayanay. We will have our breakfast then we will start our walk of approximately 4 hours of ascent, we will pass near the Ancascocha lagoon at 3,800m and then we will continue our walk to the Huayanay pass (4,650m / 15,298ft). It is at this point where the mountains are in front of us , a spectacular view that deserves to take your time to enjoy it, after this magical moment we will begin to descend to our next break and lunch place, incaracay (4,250 m / 13,990 ft), after our lunch we will begin to descend until connecting with the classic Inca trail and a small Paucarcancha archaeological complex (3,133 m/10,276 ft). place that will be our next camp.

Day 4Paucarcancha – Ayapata – Llulluchapampa

After tasting our delicious breakfast, it will be time to say goodbye to our riders who accompanied us from the first day to this one, who will be replaced by the porters who will be in charge of carrying the camping equipment until the end of the trek.
This day we begin to find the first archaeological signs, we are entering Inca territory and as first evidence we find an Inca channel as a sample of their work in hydraulic engineering, we will follow the channel until it leads us to the following archaeological sites such as paucarcancha and wayllabamba We have lunch at Wayllabamba (2,866 m / 9,400 ft) and then continue our adventure, but this time along the classic Inca trail towards our Llulluchapampa camp (3,700 m / 12,136 ft).

Day 5Llulluchapampa – Pacaymayo – Chaquicocha

Lluchapampa is a camp near the highest pass of the classic Inca trail and majestic due to the greatness of its surrounding mountains, after having a majestic breakfast we continue with our journey uphill for 2 hours until we reach warmihuañusca (4,217 m / 14,047 ft ), also called the passage of the dead woman, here we will have a magnificent view of both valleys where you can see how the Inca trail is lost within the mountains, later we descend towards Pacaymayo for our lunch to then continue uphill to the 2nd Rukurakay pass (3,977 m / 13,127 ft). another fantastic view of the snow-capped mountains of Pumasillo, we are entering a tropical zone and everything looks totally green, and to end the day we arrive at our camp called chakicocha (Dry Lake, 3,600 m/ 11,808 ft).

Day 6Chaquicocha – Phuyupatamarca – Wiñay Wayna

this walking day is characterized by the great diversity of flora and fauna, the day begins with a delicious breakfast, we will walk gently to a wonderful place called phuyupatamarca (3,680 m / 12,073 feet). Which means, the city above the clouds, a place with the best panoramic views that the Inca trail has, we will reach Intipata, another fantastic Inca construction, with a spectacular view of the valley just 6km near Machupicchu, our 3rd camp is nearby, we will have lunch and dinner there, we will also have a super rest and enough time to enjoy wiñaywayna (2,680 m / 8,792 ft). a magical place built by the Incas near a beautiful waterfall, tonight the temperature ranges between 13º C.

Day 7Wiñay Wayna – Sun Gate – Machu Picchu – Cusco

The awakening will be at 4:00 am. as always with our cup of tea or coffee, today we will visit the wonderful stone city Machupicchu, this day we will walk towards the door of the sun, the intipunku, it is from this place where the great city of Machupicchu can be seen, we will enjoy the view in the intipinku and later we will descend towards the very city of Machupicchu (2,400 m / 7,872 feet) we will arrive at the checkpoint to register and leave the large backpacks and walking sticks. It is only allowed to walk inside the city with small backpacks and without walking sticks to protect and not damage the monument.

Your guide will give you a complete explanation of this city visiting the temples, enclosures and most important points of Machupicchu.

After the guided tour and finish the tour with your guide, the people who booked to visit the Huaynapicchu mountain or the Machu Picchu mountain will have time to enjoy these magnificent places on their own, later after completing their tour in its entirety. Please take the bus to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and depending on the train’s departure time, you may be able to tour the small tourist town of Aguas Calientes and perhaps do some shopping.

The train will take you to Ollantaytambo where our driver will meet you at the exit of the train station to take you back to the city of Cusco, exactly at the door of your hotel.
