Moray is home to the most photographed circular farming terraces. They resemble the Roman amphitheatre. The farming terraces of Moray are a testament to the advancement to the Incas farming techniques.
This was more of an agricultural laboratory to Incas. As the terraces bear different temperatures at each level, it helped Incas to determine the best weather condition required to grow crops. This is the reason why the country now produces over 800 varieties of potatoes.
The Salt mines of Maras have been in use since pre Inca times. It is passed down in the line of succession. The Salt flats are owned by locals, from the community. They maintain their age-old traditions and continue to extract salt using the traditional Solar evaporation method.
Salt of maras is known for its pinkish colour and has a distinct taste.

We will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco. Then in our private transport, we will be driving you through Chinchero to Maras. This route is full of natural beauty and offers enchanting views of Peruvian countryside and snow capped Andean peaks.
There is a 10 Soles entrance fee to Maras Salt Mines. This is not a part of the tourist ticket circuit. Accompanied by our local expert, you will discover the traditional Salt farming method here.
We will then travel to Moray. Entrance to Moray is a part of the Tourist Ticket. So if you don’t have one, you can buy from the entrance. It costs 70 Soles. Our guide will be walking you through different circular terraces here explaining its use to Incas and how it has impacted life today.
After the half day trip of Maras and Moray, we will be driving you back to Cusco city.
