Huchuy Qosqo Trek + Machupicchu.
Huchuy Qosqo was once the military and administrative centre. The archeological site nestles at 3600 metres above sea level (1181 feet). It was built as a Royal Estate by Inca emperor Viracocha.
The Incas did not practise the tax system, instead, they took control of the land and the labour. This allowed them to acquire more properties where they built their Royal Estates.
However, during Viracocha’s rule, he faced revolt from the Chancas. He was afraid of his life, he handed over the throne to his son Pachacuti and took asylum in Huchuy Qosqo. Pachacuti in turn, deposed his father and assumed the role of the head of the Inca empire.
Eventually Viracocha died in Huchuy Qosqo. His corpse was mummified and stored. When the Spanish conquistadors conquered Cusco, they found Viracocha’s mummified corpse and burnt it.
Huchuy Qosqo saw rapid development during the rule of Pachacuti. He built many aqueducts, most of them are in use even today.

The pick up from your hotel will be at 6:00 in the direction of a town qoricocha lake (3,750 m / 12,304 feet) Our walk begins with gradually flat terrain and the landscape will be like the classic high Andean valleys, with a lot of corn, quinoa, potatoes and other tubers from the area, we will reach the Apachitas pass at (4,050m / 13,287ft) with a Super view of the Vilcanota mountain range and the largest mountains of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. After enjoying the incredible view, you will begin your descent towards Huchuy Qosqo.
Huchuy Qosqo Trek is located on a plateau in the upper part of the mountains, surrounded by Inca agricultural terraces and with a privileged view of the Vilcabamba mountain range.
Then we continue to our family home. Here, you will have your room to spend the night and adequate hygienic services, in the afternoon, we will enjoy a hot chocolate or a coca tea and then enjoy a pleasant dinner with your local family.
After a delicious breakfast, we will have a guided visit to the Inca City of Huchuy Qosqo, this beautiful place is at a height of 3,650 m / 11,975 feet and means (Little Cusco in Quechua) it is an Inca complex that has one of the kallankas largest in the Sacred Valley of the Incas (rectangular stone hall) with sophisticated engineering in its elaboration, also some neighborhoods with two-story stone and adobe buildings. Huchuy Qosqo is located on a plateau in the upper part of the mountains, surrounded by Inca agricultural terraces and with a privileged view of the Vilcabamba mountain range.
After knowing Huchuyqosqo we continue with our uphill walk using the Inca trail that will take us to the Taucacocha lagoon, this day is very particular since we are using an unconventional route and that makes the route more calm and peaceful. Upon arrival at our camp, help yourself to taste our appetizers and then have dinner and rest.
After another delicious breakfast, this day will be very spectacular due to the presence of good views and the most interesting thing is that we will not find many walkers, it is a route explored by us and not much is known about it, we will enjoy this route almost until noon and then arrive at the small town of Urquillos, 2,900 m / 9,515 ft, where we will take our transportation to Urubamba for our lunch and continue to Ollantaytambo, here we will take our train to the town of Aguas Calientes and check into your hotel to take a well-deserved rest.
In the morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and then take the bus that will take us to this magical place, we will enjoy this magical place in its maximum splendor and with enough time, your guide will give you a complete explanation of this magnificent place, visiting the most important precincts and temples of the Inca city of Machupicchu.
After the guided tour and finish the tour with your guide, the people who booked to visit the Huaynapicchu mountain or the Machupicchu mountain will have time to enjoy these magnificent places on their own, later after your tour please take the bus to to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and depending on the train’s departure time, it is possible that you can tour the small very touristic city of Aguas Calientes.
The train will take you to Ollantaytambo where our driver will meet you at the exit of the train station to take you back to the city of Cusco, exactly at the door of your hotel.
