Salkantay Trek 3 Day

The second highest mountain in Cusco is the Salkantay, with its beautiful snow-capped peaks, its turquoise lagoons such as the famous Humantay lagoon, make this place the best destination for adventure, our camps were chosen for their spectacular views and their distance with the classic camps, they are remote, less crowded and off the beaten track, we also include in our circuit the Llactapata route which is a fantastic archaeological complex that is located right in front of Machupcchu, you will be able to see the Inca city of Machupicchu a day before from this beautiful place.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Soraypampa – Wayracmachay – Chaullay

Our first day starts from the pick up from your hotel at 4:00 am bound for Soraypampa on the way we will enjoy the picturesque little towns in the Andes and its surroundings, we arrive at Soraypampa place that will be the beginning of our trek.

Once we arrive at Soraypampa we will have a spectacular breakfast prepared by our chef and with a majestic view of the Humantay (19,357 feet) and Salkantay (20,397 feet) snow-capped mountains in front of us, later we start our 3-hour hike uphill until we reach the salkantay pass 4,657 m / 15,367 ft., at this point we will be so close to the Salkantay mountain that we will have the sensation of having it in our hands with its colorful lagoons and snowy peaks, then we will have a 5-hour descent, our lunch will be in the half way and continue towards the chaullay camp where our snacks and a hot chocolate await us.

Day 2Chaullay - Llactapata - Hidroelectrica – Aguas calientes

We will take the transport that will take us to Lucmabamba. We are entering the tropical zone of the circuit and everything begins to turn colorful, with a lot of flora and fauna around, rivers, waterfalls, flowers, birds and much more. Our next destination is Lucmabamba where we will have aroma of coffee, since this place is characterized by the production of organic coffee within the Aobamba valley, most of the families are dedicated to this grain since it is very profitable in the international market, we will have a cup of organic coffee to lift our energy and start our walk towards llactapata

After enjoying a great time in Lucmabamba we continue with our trip, walking uphill for 3 hours on the route of the Inca trail that will take us in the direction of the Inca ruins of Llactapata, a fantastic place to appreciate the stone city of Machupicchu from a distance. you will be able to appreciate the other side of the Urubamba valley, together with the Aobamba Canyon and the mountains of Machu Picchu and Huayna Picchu and among them a construction of stone terraces, that is Machupicchu the great city of stone.

Next, we continue with the 2-hour walk until we reach our lunch that is near the hydroelectric plant, after enjoying our lunch we enter the Machupicchu National Park, the emotion overwhelms us since we are bordering the Machupicchu mountain until we reach the town of Aguas Calientes, to then check in at your hotel before our dinner in a restaurant in the city.

Day 3Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

The day has come to visit the magical place of our dreams.

In the morning we will have breakfast at the hotel and then take the bus that will take us back to this magical place, we can enjoy it once again but this time in its maximum splendor and with enough time, your guide will give you a complete explanation. of this magnificent place, visiting the most important precincts and temples of the city of Machupicchu, such as the guardian’s house, the sacred plaza, the Pacha Mama temple, the main temple, the intihuatana, the sacred rock and other precincts.

After the guided visit and finish the tour with your guide, the people who booked to visit the Huaynapicchu mountain or the Machupicchu mountain will have time to enjoy these magnificent places on their own, later after your tour please take the bus heading to the town of Aguas Calientes for lunch (not included) and depending on the train’s departure time, you may be able to tour the small tourist town of Aguas Calientes.

The train will take you to Ollantaytambo, Your train will leave at 14:55 or 15:20. Where our driver will meet you at the exit of the train station to take you back to the city of Cusco, exactly at the door of your hotel. .
