This tour begins in the majestic city of Cusco, passing through towns in the sacred valley such as Ollantaytambo, Santa Maria, Santa Teresa, and Hidroeléctrica by car, before beginning a 2-hour walk along an old flat path surrounded by vegetation and tropical landscapes to the town of Aguas Calientes, where we will enjoy a visit to the Citadel of Machu Picchu the following day.
The Machu Picchu by Car Tour was created in 1999 as an alternative route due to the limitations of the train that leads to Aguas Calientes. By participating in this Adventure, you will be helping to develop the towns that exist along the route, as well as enjoying a beautiful panorama full of landscapes and snow-capped Peruvian Andes mountains.

We will begin the tour at 6:30 a.m. and travel to Ollantaytambo, taking in the gorgeous scenery of the area. We will make a 30-minute halt at this location. Then we’ll continue our journey up a winding road to Habra Malaga, which sits at 4316 meters above sea level and offers views of Cusco’s most beautiful landscapes. We’ll continue our descent into the jungle, going through various altitude levels that blend idyllic scenery of towering snow-capped mountains with the scorching Inca jungle.
Once we arrive in Santa Maria, we will travel over an unpaved road that is in good condition (unpaved) to the town of Santa Teresa, which is located at an altitude of 1500 meters above sea level. After a delectable lunch prepared with a variety of foods to suit the tastes of the clients, we will continue traveling for another 40 minutes to arrive to Machupicchu’s hydroelectric power facility.
The Company Staff is waiting for us there to begin the 2 hour and 30 minute trek through the Inca forest to the village of Aguas Calientes, where we can already see the spectacular citadel of Machupicchu, Huaynapicchu, and a variety of flora and animals.
