It is highly recommended to spend some time in Cusco and acclimate to the altitude to avoid altitude sickness. Hike to Huayna Picchu is definitely challenging, although if you are with a reasonable physical condition it won’t be difficult to hike.

Day 1Cusco - Ocongate - Tinqui - Upis

We start the day with the pick up from your hotel at 6am, our private transport will take us to the community of upis, we will arrive at the small school of this community and it is in this place where we begin the walk, the route is slightly flat with a super view of the great snow-capped Ausangate and its surroundings, it is the ideal habitat for llamas and alpacas, the path will take us to the upis camp (4200 masl) near our camp there are some thermal baths, which is optional to enjoy this beautiful place .

Day 2Upis - Puca Cocha- Ananta

The awakening will be 5:00 am with a cup of coffee or coca tea to activate our energy and then go on to have our delicious breakfast, we begin our walk uphill gradually until we reach Paso Arapa (4989 masl -16567 feet) in the course of the walk we will observe the shepherds of alpacas and llamas, the snowy Ausagate covered with a lot of snow and if we are lucky, we will be able to see condors, chinchillas and vicuñas. In addition to enjoying colorful lagoons until we reach pucaqocha where we will be served our lunch in front of the lagoons.

Day 3Ananta - Montaña Arco Iris - Ausangate Cocha

Today is a very special day because we visit the famous mountain of colors and its wonderful view, we wake up at 4:00 am, we have our breakfast and then continue with our walk, the purpose is to arrive early to this beautiful place, the walk begins uphill until reaching the Ananta pass (15,090 feet-4500m-14,000 feet) from where you can see this incredible Rainbow Mountain also called the 7-color mountain, then we begin to descend and surround a small lagoon until we reach the 7-color Mountain where you will have a panoramic view of this fantastic place. Then we return to Ananta where we have lunch and continue walking until we reach our camp called Ausangate Cocha where we have dinner and rest after a wonderful day.

Day 4Ausangate Cocha – Quinsacocha – Jampa

Early in the morning we enjoy a quick breakfast and immediately start hiking to the highest point of the Ausangate trek at 5300m called the Palomani pass. In this place we will feel so close to heaven, it is the highest point than all the other treks in the entire Cusco region. The great valleys of the Andes will be appreciated and if we are very lucky we will meet the king of the skies, the Andean condor. Along the way, we will appreciate different snowy peaks, rivers, small lakes, chinchillas, alpacas and llamas. Then we will arrive at our camp called JAMPA (it is the coldest camp).

Day 5Jampa - Pacchanta - Cusco

Our wake up will be at 5:30 am with coca tea or your coffee, after our breakfast we start the trek uphill for about 3 hours to reach the last pass at 4900m. It is from this point where we will thicken to descend and connect with the famous 7 lagoons until we reach PACCHANTA, in this place we will enjoy its thermal baths in front of the snowy ausangate, we will taste our last lunch and the cordial farewell of our team, and then return to the city of Cusco.
