Tour Details

Machu Picchu Sacred Valley Tour is one of our signature tours. We have designed this exclusive two-day tour to offer you the best of the Inca civilization in a short time.

Sacred Valley Machu Picchu Tour, as the name suggests, starts with a visit to the Inca ruins in the Sacred Valley of the Incas. On this tour, you will get an introduction to the civilization and the prominence of farming among other activities which have been passed down generation after generation.

When you visit the Sacred Valley with our local English-speaking tour guide, you will understand how devoted the Incas were to farming. They even built an agricultural laboratory (Moray).

The circular terraces of Moray are among the most photographed sites in the valley. The archaeological site comprises farming terraces built on different levels. Each level bears a different temperature. This allowed the Incas to determine the best weather condition needed to grow any crop.

To enhance your Sacred Valley Machu Picchu Tour experience, we will also be serving you a traditional buffet lunch in Urubamba.

This two-day Machu Picchu Sacred Valley tour from the city of Cusco is perfect for families and for travelers wanting to get the most of the Inca sites in a short time.

Itinerary

Day 1Cusco - Sacred Valley - Aguas Calientes

At 0700 AM, we will be picking you up from your hotel in Cusco and will embark on a drive to Chinchero. To Incas, Chinchero was the birthplace of Rainbow. This beautiful village is home to beautiful Inca ruins perched on a hilltop.

Locals living here have preserved their age-old traditions. They are famous for handicrafts. You will have the opportunity to witness their finest creations using Alpaca wool.

Maras Moray:

We will then visit Moray. Home to the emblematic circular farming terraces, you will witness the Incas advancement in the farming industry. After a detailed tour of the sites here, we will be driving you to Maras. The distinct salt terraces built on the slopes of a hill have been in use since Pre-Inca times.

Salt Farmers here use the traditional solar evaporation method to extract salt. They let in the natural spring water into the geometric-shaped salt pools and wait for it to evaporate. They then manually scrape the salt off the pool.

The pink salt has a distinct taste and is rich in nutrient value.

After touring these stunning Inca sites, we will savor a traditional Andean buffet lunch in Urubamba.

Ollantaytambo:

Our last stop on the Sacred Valley tour will be in Ollantaytambo. Often referred to as the living Inca town, Ollantaytambo boasts the masterful engineering work of the Incas. The village is snuggled between two peaks, each home to an Inca site.

We will, however, be visiting the main Inca temple here. This is believed to have been the refuge for Inca royalty and nobility. The complex dazzles with imposing buildings and stonework platforms.

After witnessing the imposing Inca architecture here, we will be dropping you off at Ollantaytambo Train Station. Here you will be embarking on a scenic train ride along the course of the Urubamba River to Aguas Calientes.

We will be accommodating you in an ensuite hotel in Aguas Calientes. The village is home to natural thermal baths. You can spend the evening taking a refreshing dip.

Day 2Aguas Calientes - Machu Picchu - Cusco

Your epic day of the Machu Picchu Sacred Valley tour begins with an early morning bus transfer from Aguas Calientes to Machu Picchu. The 25 minutes ride will take you to the entrance of the iconic Inca citadel and one of the new world wonders, Machu Picchu.

As the trouncing sun would clear the blanket of clouds and unveil the citadel, we will begin the guided tour of the complex. On this two hours tour, we will be visiting the prime sites in the complex.

We will give you a tour of the remains of the royal quarters, Inca temples, ceremonial sites, and more.

After the tour, you will have plenty of time to contemplate the astounding views. If you have booked to climb Huayna Picchu mountain or Machu Picchu mountain, our tour guide will direct you to the respective trail head.

Alternatively, you can hike to Sungate. This is the point of entry for those hiking the esteemed Inca trail to Machu Picchu. Sungate offers a panoramic view of Machu Picchu citadel. You won’t need any permit to hike to Sungate and it’s free

After soaking in the awe-inspiring views, we will take the bus back to Aguas Calientes town. You will have some free time here to explore the town. If desired, you can stop for lunch at one of the local restaurants (not included in the price).

Later in the evening, we will be taking the tourist train back to Ollantaytambo. Our representative will be meeting you here on arrival and will be driving you back to Cusco. We will be reaching Cusco by 09:00 PM.
